The model on sale now is the UX3480QA, with a Snapdragon X X1 chip, 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD and a 14-inch 1920 by 1200 OLED screen at 60Hz. Asus's Australian store lists it at A$2,099, per launch coverage; Kropp Media could not open the store page directly from this run. Intel and AMD versions are due in Australia between November and December, according to that same coverage, with the top models getting 24GB of memory, a 1TB drive and a 3K 120Hz OLED panel, and prices reaching A$3,999.

The battery numbers don't agree

Asus's global product page for the Snapdragon Zenbook 14 says three different things. Its page description says 21 hours. The feature section says 30-plus hours of offline video playback on select configurations. A comparison block on the same page says 33-plus hours. The Australian launch material quotes 33 hours of 1080p video playback for the range. All of these are Asus's own numbers, so the sensible reading is that 33 hours belongs to a particular configuration, and the A$2,099 model on sale now is rated at 21 by its own spec sheet. That's still a full working day with plenty left over, but it isn't the number on the poster.

What else Asus lists

The battery is 50 watt-hours and charges over USB-C from a 68W adapter, and Asus notes that whether the charger is in the box varies by country. Ports include USB-C, with one USB4 port at 40Gbps, plus a USB-A port, HDMI 2.1 and a headphone jack, which is a better spread than most thin laptops manage. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 handle wireless. The webcam is full HD with infrared for Windows Hello. Asus lists the weight at 1.1kg to 1.3kg depending on configuration, and the lid uses its Ceraluminum finish, a ceramic-treated aluminium the company says resists scratches and stains. There's also a US military-standard durability certification on the spec sheet.

The colours are Arctic Blue, Komodo Coral and Zabriskie Beige. Asus showed the coral version at Computex in June and this is the same machine.

Why it matters

A$2,099 buys a light OLED laptop from the first wave of a range that runs to A$3,999. Anyone who wants the Intel or AMD version, or the sharper 120Hz screen, is waiting until November at the earliest.
