The two biggest names in 360 cameras launched flagships a day apart. Only one of them can you actually buy in Australia this week.
DJI launched the Osmo 360 II in China on 13 August, one day after Insta360 put the X6 on sale worldwide. The timing is no accident. These two companies are in an open fight for the 360 camera market, and launch weeks like this are what that fight looks like.
What is actually confirmed
The solid facts come from DJI's own regional stores. In Hong Kong the Osmo 360 II is listed from HK$3,899, with an Adventure Combo at HK$4,699. Those convert to roughly US$499 and US$599, which would put it about US$200 under the X6 if that pricing ever travels. There is no United States price at all. DJI gear has been tangled in US import problems for over a year, and the outlets covering this launch do not expect an American release.
What is reported, not confirmed
The hardware numbers come from launch coverage rather than an official English spec sheet, so treat them accordingly. Reports have the Osmo 360 II shooting 8K60 360 video, a step past the X6's 8K50, with a battery around ten per cent larger than the first Osmo 360, user-replaceable lenses for the first time on this line, and improvements to stabilisation and colour science.
The Australian question
No global date has been announced. DJI sells the original Osmo 360 worldwide, and the coverage expects the second one to follow later this quarter, with September floated more than once. Nothing is confirmed for Australia, on timing or on price. If the pattern holds, Australians end up with a choice in a month or two: the X6 now, or the Osmo 360 II slightly later, possibly for less.
