Some products are tools and some are objects. The Hoverpen Future is firmly an object, and judging it as a pen misses what it is actually for.
Novium's Hoverpen sits on a magnetic base at an angle, appearing to hover, and spins in place. It is aerospace-adjacent styling applied to something that is, functionally, a pen. The engineering that goes into the balance and the base is real, and so is the fact that most people buying one are buying it to look at.
That is not a criticism. Desks accumulate objects whether you plan them or not, and one considered piece beats four random ones.
Where I would push back
On framing it as a productivity purchase. It is not, and anyone selling it to you that way is having a lend. It is the desk equivalent of a nice watch, and the people who will enjoy it most already know that going in.
